Stages On The Sound is getting ready to be back in person for the 2021-22 school year!

The Stages’ Arts Residency provides exceptional, professional artists to your school or academy. Our team of teaching artists are virtus trained, master’s-degree level theatre arts educators, most of whom have been working in the diocese for years. The STAGES' coursework follows curriculum standards set forth for by the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards for Theater and ELA.

 New this year!

We will be offering TWO different residencies- a FALL and a SPRING residency.

The Ten-Week Fall Residency will culminate during Advent, where your students and their families will watch themselves and their classmates as part of Stages’ Virtual ADVENTure Calendar. The Twelve-Week Spring Residency will culminate in the multi-school Stages’ Performing Arts Festival with your school joining other schools in the diocese to share their productions, films, and scenes in a celebration of the performing arts!  Both residencies have the same course structure as previous years, where we introduce and learn skills and then apply them to our final presentations.

  • Teaching artists will be assigned to your school/academy. They will come to your school/academy one day per week, on a day that is best for you.

  • The teaching artist will meet with each of the three or four sections for one class period of 45-55 minutes.

  • Each curricula moves from teaching concepts to their application in a production. Every age grouping has a unique focus and will result in a project-based culminating activity.

Lower Grade Band (K-5th) – Filmmaking and Media Arts

Middle Grade Band (4th-7th) – Writing for Performance

Upper Grade Band (6th-9th) – Shakespeare in Performance

In addition to the weekly classes and culminating presentations, STAGES’ Residency participants will also receive the following:

  • Performance of Shakespeare In ACTion for grades 5-8.  Our extremely popular, high-energy production hooks students on the Bard while teaching them dramatic structure for their own plays.

  • Access to the Stages’ Virtual ADVENTure Calendar 2021, a daily video-based educational program that students can watch with their families or at school.

  • Performance for all students grades 6-8 to the Spring Shakespeare production.

Price

The traditional three-band model of the program is $6,500 for the Fall and $7,250 for the Spring.  Schools registering for both the fall and spring residency receive a discount as do schools adding additional classes to their residency. Stages on the Sound can provide supporting materials for grants and other sources of funding. An invoice will be sent to you directly from Stages on the Sound, Inc.
